Meet Joe Watson

Joe Watson

We are kicking off our “Meet the Team” series by introducing our newest team member Joe Watson, Regional Sales Manager who is based in our Glasgow office with a focus on our clients in Central Scotland. With a rich background in the managed print industry and a deep-seated commitment to customer-centric values, Joe is the perfect fit, aligning with our vision and values.

He has taken some time out from his dynamic sales role to answer some of our questions. Get to know him better in the interview below.

When did you join Carbon?

I’ve been part of Carbon for the past 6 months, joining in October 2023.

What attracted you to the company and your current position?

Spending time with the directors and understanding that their vision for the company really aligned with my own. If I were starting my own business, it would be centred around everything that Carbon is focused on – outstanding customer service, sustainability, and modern digital solutions.

Could you share a bit about your career background?

I have been in the managed print industry for over 15 years, with a significant part of my career spent with a specialist managed print organisation that was part of a global manufacturer. I began to feel that the company had shifted its focus too heavily towards shareholders, neglecting the importance of prioritising customer satisfaction. Practices such as off-shoring support and presenting engineers as ‘sustainable’ without genuine commitment did not align with my values, and I was ready for a change. As a managed services provider, we need to be agile, local, responsive, and hands-on to truly meet the needs of our clients.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I was going to say ‘mind reading’ as it would be really helpful in my career, but the ability to speak to dogs would definitely be my first choice!

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

My Papa Dan always told me, ‘Convince a man against his will, he’s of the same opinion still,’ and it has always stuck with me.

Who inspires you?

Over the years, I have had many different inspirations from Tiger Woods to Arnold Schwarzenegger, but having been a huge NFL fan for a long time, it has to be Tom Brady (even though I didn’t support his teams). He proved that hard work, self-care, and belief can take you anywhere.
